Welcome to Heartfelt Ceremony!

I’m Kate Mortimer, Heartfelt’s professionally trained celebrant, offering a wide range of ceremonies, such as weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, family celebrations such as welcoming an adopted child, and celebrations of life (funerals) and memorials (for animals as well as people!)

Hi all,

I closed Heartfelt to face to face contact on 16th March due to the Coronavirus. However, I am providing contact by Skype, phone, Zoom, WhatsApp and email currently until this crisis is resolved. We received the sad but not unexpected news last night that weddings and naming ceremonies are not currently able to take place. This will be hugely disappointing at what would have otherwise been a joyful time for many couples and families, but is unavoidable in the current circumstances. Funerals/celebrations of life will be limited to immediate family only to attend, which I appreciate will be an absolutely devastating prospect for many people. However, a memorial service can be conducted once we have the go-ahead and enable loved ones to all attend and celebrate your loved one’s life.
Please do feel free to contact me to discuss, whether you are a current or prospective client. I have updated all current clients with this news and wherever I am available I will hold booking fees which have already been paid until the time we are able to make your ceremony happen.
WhatsApp is end to end secure and as well as using it via mobile/messaging, you can also make video calls and download it to a PC. Zoom is also secure, needs no software and I just send you a link to meet virtually.
Many thanks for your understanding and patience during what is an uncertain and worrying time for us all. I do hope you will feel able to continue to support Heartfelt, as a small local business, and consider me for your ceremony when you are able. Stay well and take care, Kate

My feedback page and gallery will be up and running soon, but here is a selection of recent feedback:

‘Dear Kate, Thank you so much for leading (our) service so beautifully… We have had lots of positive feedback… the tone was just right and really allowed (us) to reflect on our loved ones.’

‘You were perfect.’

‘Thank you for being part of our special day, you did a fabulous job, many people went out of their way to say to say so too ?’

‘Hi Kate,

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for delivering our wedding ceremony. It was a lovely ceremony and we really appreciated your role and prep beforehand.’

‘Thank you for such a wonderful ceremony, it meant a lot that you did it.’

‘We had the best day ever! Thank you soooo much for helping to make it so perfect xx’

‘The ceremony was perfect and just what we wanted, thank you so much for putting together a lovely ceremony in such a short space of time.’

‘Just a quick note to say thankyou for making our day so special. Everyone loved the ceremony.’

‘We loved the service you gave, it was so personal and deeply moving, never to be forgotten by ourselves or our guests who all commented on it !
So many people said that they would love their children to do the same thing. It was very memorable.
You created the perfect atmosphere that made our day so special for us both.
Thank you.’

‘Thank you so much for celebrating our wedding for us and being our celebrant. Kate helped to shape our ceremony into the relaxed, informal style that we wanted. She was unfazed and respectful of our wishes, and had lots of suggestions for readings, the wording and ceremonial aspects which we could build into our ceremony. She helped to design and draft the words, format and stage movements of the ceremony and engaged with us throughout. On the day itself, Kate was an amazing celebrant. She enabled us to have a personal and bespoke ceremony for our wedding. She was warm, welcoming and calm, and helped everyone involved stay relaxed too.’

It is an incredible privilege when you choose to work with me to craft and conduct a ceremony. My passion is to understand your hopes, dreams and wishes, and create a professional ceremony, which can be as traditional, or unique and unconventional, as you like. I particularly love quirky, vintage, alternative and homegrown celebrations!

I have a Master’s degree in Creative Writing, which enables me to work with you to eloquently express your feelings through unique ceremonies, and really enjoy getting to know you to create a ceremony which is perfect for you. You can have as much or as little input into the content and structure of your celebration as you choose. I have a wealth of resources and a wide range of ceremonies in my skillset, so can make suggestions for your ceremony which you might not have thought of, or might not be aware were options.

The advantage of employing me, as a professional independent celebrant, is that your ceremony will be tailor made for you – you’re not tied into a formal venue or particular setting, or to specific wording, content or ethos. This means that the ceremony or celebration can truly reflect you and your loved ones and be wonderfully memorable!

While I practice as a mainly secular celebrant conducting humanistic style ceremonies, I have no ethical objection if you wish to include any readings or music which have a religious origin – it’s YOUR ceremony!

I welcome people from the whole community, am committed to equality and diversity, and offer a professional, ethical, reliable, flexible and creative service, using my professional training and experience, and empathy, communication, organisational and presentation skills gained from 18 years as an NHS professional and independent therapist also.

I offer a free, no obligation initial meeting, to enable us to get to know each other and begin to plan your ceremony, and for you to ensure that you feel I am the right celebrant for you. I am based in Bristol and able to travel.
